Social Media
Another week, with some more progress. Do I have my basic combat in place? Not quite, I still have some stats and skills to flesh out for my enemies and I haven't done any skills for my party yet. Why haven't I done this yet? I got a little distracted... with social media.

Having a social media presence for a game is really important these days. It's probably something I shouldn't focus on until I'm a bit further down the road with development but I also can't see the harm in starting to build things now. I'm on X and Reddit at the moment as they seem like places to really build a community.
Would you follow this advice?

But it is slow going... though to be fair I am only a week in. Making consistent posts and updates about my game whilst also contributing to similar communities is what will hopefully net me a small following. Which is all I'm really hoping for. Wednesday will be the day I focus on social media the most, which lines up well with making these dev blogs!
From the Reddit post I shared above I had just one person ask about the screenshot of the game. Totally worth it! So exciting even to have just one person show interest in the game. If I can manage to do that with every major post I do, I'll be happy.
Shout out to Zeras_Darkwind, you're a legend!
In my downtime heading to and from work (I catch the bus) I've been expanding the lore of the game. It's been interesting to see how the basic elements I've already started with are combining and evolving to become a much more fleshed out world. Pretty funny for a game that's centered around cows and milk!

Aside from the distraction of social media, I've also been sidetracked by my two young boys getting sick! We had to take them to the hospital because they had really low blood sugar. We've had some bloods taken for testing but we won't find out what's up for a week. The boys are all better now but it was a bit of a worry. My goal is to have this game finished within the year, even with potential setbacks, distractions and life's drama. We'll see how I go!
So I'm aiming for this week to definitely have combat under wraps, even so far as having my map filled with encounters from levels 1-50! If I can't do that, I at least want the very baseline of combat sorted.
Thanks for reading, say hi in the comments and tell me what is your favourite normal enemy type? What kind of mechanic do they employ?
